about

A bundle of sunrays separated by cirrus clouds. A spiral staircase leading above in
a gallery full of pictures that store memories, filled with vivid colors and distorted
faces of people on them. A silence after another fight in a car that is driven by two
lovers, now getting distant to each other, similar to the cities, they are traveling inbetween,
are far from each other. All of these images are created by short bursts of
piano sounds, by the minimalistic and seemingly simple, yet perfect for creating an
aesthetic like that, percussion, by the evanescent composition and by the tangible
melancholy of the music that is soothing and not threatening.
IMMINENT presents a new autumn season of music releases, which is commonly
important, demanding to us and fruitful, remarkable and full of surprises to you. The
season starts with a release from the seasoned, prolific and successful music
producer timmies, who is one of the original members of the IMMINENT art
collective. timmies’s new album is entitled Erratic Misery and it’s a continuation of
the artist’s series of instrumental hip-hop releases, which was established with the
last year’s Evaporate album (also available on IMMINENT Recs.).
Besides pieces of music that remain stylistically true to the genre of lo-fi
instrumental hip-hop, there is a vocal-driven track created together with a South
Korean vocalist Alys, as well as a couple of tracks that are inspired by some of the
recent music trends, cloud-rap and dancehall in particular. However, the overall
focus of Erratic Misery stays on sensual, warm and captivating piano melodies,
enhanced by slow and organic hip-hop percussion and various atmospheric samples,
which are rarely vocal ones. Nevertheless, the moments of human voices being
present in music does not ruin the structure of music, adding variety to the
stylistically consistent release. Erratic Misery is a wonderful beginning of the new
season from the IMMINENT collective that sets the bar for us even higher, despite
the big expectations already set by our previous releases.
